So yea the other day I was working on my car.... Just got done installing stage 3 clutch on 94 ls teggy.

I had to take the VSS off to do the whole install of the clutch kit of course. When i took it out for drive to see how it runs with the new clutch kit, I noticed the SPEEDOMETER, ODOMETER, and cruise control weren't working.
I would rev it, drive it... and ONLY the RPM gauge is working. Mileage stays the same and mph gauge not working.

I was wondering if there's anything else i could check besides the VSS. I made sure it was plugged in all the way. I unplugged and plugged in all the way as well to check.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

im actually having the same problem, did a motor swap with new clutch, and as soon as we dropped everything in and took it for a drive i noticed mine doesnt work either, and we treid 3 different vss, still cant figure out whats going on, keep me posted if u happen to find out whats up

 

=] Figured id let ya know that it's fixed... I did some looking around at the VSS again, but paying more attention this time.
I took off the entire VSS, looked at it and decided to splice into the wiring of it. The wiring in the connector was bad in one spot, as if it was like twisted or stretched from when i put in stg 3 clutch.
I just pliced into wiring, put back together into connector, turned car on and it works perfect now.

tried it and it still doesnt work, tried a couple more sensors 2 and still nothing...would the fact that i convereted to obd I computer and have an older motor that should be in there with an obd II harness be the problem?

 

I have the same issue with my speedometer. When the car is cold the needle stay at 0, when the car started warm up my speedometer is moving slowly but still giving incorrect speed reading. I put a new VSS but did no fix my problem.

 

check the wires for a cut somewere and maybe the plug got unplugged

 

I have the same issue and before my speedometer went completely out, I would be able to tap on the dash and it would start working again. Eventually my speedometer and odometer stopped working all together. I changed the VSS and didn't work. I'll check if power is running through the wires but just wanted to see if it could do with the cluster since tapping on it had an effect early in the issue.
