something wrong with my VTEC?
ok, i have a stock 96 gsr, i don't street race much at all and i hardly ever drive over the 4000 rpm level...but today, this civic with nothing more than I/H/E tried to race me, i got a bad start but i ended up beating him by a lot passing him around 3rd-4th gear...i notced that the VTEC sound wasn't coming in until around 6000 rpms (like a sudden increase in power and sound), i thought it was supposed to engage around 4500 rpms with more of a gradual increase...is it just me or has this ever happened to anyone else?

4400 is when the secondary intake runners open actual vtec does kick in at about 6000 thats y people get vtec controllers so they can lower it to that rpm or so
huh? I dont think so. Once my V-AFC was installed and I looked at where Vtev was coming on at it said 4400 and there are a million other posts that say the same thing.

i just asked some guy about this and he said that vtec kicks in at 4400 but you can't really hear it, but at 5800 the intake manifold opens up and that has a really noticeable sound, thanks for all your help though, i appreciate it
