smoke coming from engine...
ive posted about differnt problems about our b18b rebuild....all stock. anyway we finally got it started to day
and from the time we first started it to now it has gone through about 3-4 differnt noises. first time it made kind of a squealing noise but after letting it run for a bit it went away, now it makes a noise which kind of sounds like something is hiting a piece of metal every time it revolves...no idea where its coming from. and also were getting a little bit of smoke from what looks like the exhaust manifold side. we did reuse the headgasket and the EM gasket, prob not a good idea but thats kinda late now. anyway could the smoke be from an exhaust leak? any possibiliy that noise is coming from the EM?

also there was a bit of fuel in the oil becuase of all the cranking we did before it would actually start...could it be something to do w/that? we're probably going to change the oil soon.
if your motor started right away and began to knock...
I would ask...
how fast is the knock? is it a knock knock when you increase the throttle...
or when you increase the throttle does it knicka knicka... than fall down and knock knock at idle (clank and knock used interchangably) I would check the tq spec on the cam caps... do so for my sake... if you do check it, be sure to re-tq them to spec. if that is the problem, it could mean a set of cams and the need to find another head for your LS motor. ask me how I know. I am looking at a CTR intake cam that went the way of the DODO along with a GSR head on my old motor...
just a suggestion.
