Which shocks???
I'm planning to lower my 97 GSR ~1.5 inches or so and am wondering what suspension setup to purchase. I dont autox or anything like that, just want a setup with good FIT, PERFORMANCE, RELIABILITY. I'm pretty much set on getting Ground Control coilovers unless anyone here can convince we why not or can recommend a good spring that lowers a 97 GSR about 1.5 inches. Also, which shocks should I get? So far, I've found Koni Yellows for $499, Bilstein for $389, Tokico 5 ways for $439, and KYB AGX for $359. Are those pretty good prices? Anyone know of a good place to purchase? Everyone is telling me that Koni Yellows are the best thing in the world.. I'm just wondering what's everybody's input with the other mentioned shocks. With GC coilovers, could nonadjustable konis or tokicos hold up pretty well? I also heard that with the GC coilovers, I need a diff part for certain shocks.. can anybody enlighten me on this? Thanks.
Koni Yellows are nice. I had them on a previous GSR and I'd like to get them for my current GSR but they are expensive. Scroll down and search for a post by Paste about a deal he's working on for these. I replied to his post for him to email about them but I haven't heard anything though. I was also considering KYB AGX's because they are pretty cheap (search Ebay) or check out coximport.com.
I don't think you can go wrong with the Ground Control coilovers, the benefit is you can custom order them and have the ability to raise or lower your car whenever you want.
Check out Ground Control's website for info about them. Apparently the GC's made to fit Koni's will only fit Koni's, that's the only difference. Also note that the Koni Yellows have adjustable spring perches (5 different settings) so in theory you can raise/lower your car with these shocks but you have to completely remove them to adjust the perches.
Also, I'm not sure about Tokico's but Koni, Bilstein and KYB all offer lifetime warranty. From what I've read on this board though, KYB's are not warrantied if you lower your car more than 1.5 inches.

I'm currently rockin' Tokico Blues...but would like to get Tokico Illuminas myself for their adjustability. I'm using the Neuspeed Sports, so it's the same drop you're looking at.
