shitty tranny fluid causing clutch problems...
Roughly 2 months ago i had my ACT XTSS installed. It was relativly stiff (which i like, i can't stand soft clutches at ALL) But just recently my brother let me drive his Honda Prelude with an XTSS in it. I noticed the engagement point was a lot "sooner" (or close to the firewall) than mine was, the engagement point was about 1/2 of what mine was, and his seems stiffer. Is this just the difference in Cars or what?
A performance shop installed his clutch where as lee myles installed mine (sounded like a good idea at the time
) Do you think that the performance shop used different tranny fluid than my shop did? I've heard people saying that a lot of tranny shops use motor oil as tranny oil. Should i change mine out with redline tranny oil or something?
Basically i want my clutch to be a little more agressive... can i make it that way without purchasing a new clutch?
Cheers,
Ryan

It could be the tranny fluid. A lot of shops do you motor oil for tranny fluid.
I have a 94gsr which I once changed my transmission fluid with 5w-30 and it shifted like ****. I thought it was because the oil wt. was to light, so I did it again with 10w-30. The shifting was better but it was still crap. So I went to my local Honda dealer and picked up 3 qts. of Honda Tranmission fluid and all my problems were solved. The transmission now shifts very smooth.
Go with Honda MTF, it's like $4 a qt but well worth it.
