Default shifting?

i just bought a 96 gsr and learned to drive standard the day i bought it. when i am accelerating it seems that i dont even need to use 3rd gear by the time its in 3rd i am already needing 4th. i was just wondering if it is possible to go from second to fourth if my revs are high which they are cause the engine revs to 8k which i find amazing but kinda scary sometimes.also when i am just cruising the car seems to always want a low rpm or high gear usually 80kmh in fourth.laugh it up but if anyone can tell me if this is normal please let me know.thx

Since I learned how to drive on my first Integra I'll try to help...

I shift from 3rd to 5th all the time when I have to merge onto the freeway.
It's not a bad thing at all if your at the right speed for the gear that you will be going into.

On the flip side of things.
Make sure you know how fast you can go in each gear before you start downshifting or you can really screw things up.

perfectly alright to skip gears. you dont HAVE to go in order.
i do this all the time.

ill hit 40mph in 3rd, then shift directly into 5th.

but since you havent been driving long, go through all the gears until you get more experienced. shift normally at like 3-3.5k as stated. if not, youll be complaining about shitty gas mileage.

if i were you i would go ask a friend that knows how to drive standard good and ask them to help you out, that way you dont thrash your clutch right off the bat.

you can shift into any gear as long as you get power, you can launch in 3rd gear as long asyou use your cluth alot.. bad for clutch... but you can just shift into anygear like i would go from second to 4th whenever i dont feel like beaing at high rpm and whenever im lazy to shift ill just use second and fourth.
