Default Shifter help

Hey guys i just bought a 94 dc2 and the gear shifter is completely loose, it doesnt snap back to the center and i have to 'find' the gears, like it doesnt go right in track like it should. The previous owner told me it is a retaining spring or the bushings or something I need help because it is hard to find 5th and reverse i need to take care of this immediately as its really annoying. Thanks.

haha retaining spring! That's an imaginary part. Get some energy suspension shifter bushings, make sure the bolts that hold the shifter mechenism to the bottom are tightened up. There is also a bushing that the ball of the shifter rolls around in. Make sure it's in good condition and well greased.

You can find the bushings anywhere, passwordjdm.com has a set now to. One goes behind the shifter,(under the car) and the other is on the bottom of the tranny where the stabilizer bar connects to the tranny. Very easy to install. If you pull the shifter out you will see the ball I'm talking about, and the sleeve bushing thing it rolls in.
