i have quiet a predicament on my hands. im about to go back to iraq for a year (****) but when i come back i will have 20-30K if i dont waste it. i have a 97 ls and i like it its just slow. i know that can be helped and with 30k or so i could make it a bad mo fo. question is, should i just go buy a g35 and do the little stuff and have a nice car, or soup the integra anh have a race car. also 300z or rx7 buy one for 12k and drop the rest into the motor and suspension? ah choices choices. lemme know what ya'll think

First, come back safely from Iraq.

Second, I'd go with a g35, but it's all in taste. An Integra and a G35 are in two different worlds.

I'd just sell it and decide when you get back.

If it were me and the teg was paid off, I would turbo the teg and take the rest of the money and buy a house or invest it. But, then again that's me.

That sounds like a good idea to me. If I had about 20K and the LS was in good shape, I would turbo it, and get a decent suspension setup, hell for like 8 grand u can build the motor and boost it, then have 12-22k to put in the bank for a rainy day.

Actually, Im lying like hell. I would sell the LS, invest that money for the year I was in Irag (mutal fund or cd) and then come back, take my money, and find me a TT Supra.

Sell the car. you might have different priorities a year from now and new cars will be out in a year so you can always decide then.

 

Go with the Rx7 if your willing to have the car in the shop all the time, even the smallest upgrade requires you to tune the car. 300zx is also a nice choice. I love my teg don't get me wrong, but I like rx7's, 300zx's, mr2's more. First off worry about coming back safe from Iraq

return from iraq and get your priorities and life straight.

G35 and a 3rd Gen teg aren't even comparable, even IF the teg (big 'if" ) can go faster. period.

well i dont think its that big of an IF to get a teg goin faster than a g35. they run low 14s stock while a turbo'd teg w/ just a bolt on kit and stock internals and a good driver will do usually around mid to high 13's. but then again yes, i would trade my teg for a g35 any day of the week.

except a g35 with just the greddy bolt on twin turbo set up will put you in mid twelves according to them....now hmmm...which would be better? A 12 second G35 or a 12 second teg?

I would sell, wait till you get back to decide...you'll sell it for a higher value now also. If you wait to sell it will be an older car. Plus, you could maybe get a brand new 2005, or 2006 when you come back.

Wow thats great I'm actually just about to meet with my recruiter tomorrow.... Maybe I'll see you over there.... hopefully alive and not in a bodybag but about the subject.... I would sell the car and put the money into the bank or even better a mutual fund and just as you get paid keep adding and building on it. I'm sure when you get back your priorities will be 100% different then they are now. the best thing you can do with that money is to buy property such as a condo or a house it is the smartest thing you could do with the money. You can get a car still though also depending on how much you spend on a house or etc.... basically what I'm trying to say is that a car is not an investment it is more of a money pit, if you want to keep that money and grow it then invest in real estate and remember its all about location, location, location.... just my .02 though...

I agree with this, forget spending mad money on a car. Buy a house or some land at least. With real estate you can arrange your finances to have a nice ride in the future.
