RS trans and LS trans..?? Any difference?
i've got a manual teg tranny from an RS model and from my experience i top out 4th at about 100-103.. my nephew has an LS model and his tops out at 110 or so...
my question is, is there a difference b/w the two trannies.. i was also told that the gearing in the RS tranny somewhat resembles the gearing on gsr tranny (3-4th gear that is, i'm also aware that 1-2 gear is identical as well) gearing. But i am certain the tranny is an RS because I saw the car that the engine/trans was dropped out of before i bought it, and it was definately an RS...
your insight is much appreciated...

No, they are the same...if you have two cars that are from the same year. My 98 tops out at 110 in fourth (straight from the owner's manual). Another thing to consider is that your speedo may be off.
The LS and RS have the exact same gearing.
The difference in top speed between your nephew's and your car has to do with Honda's crappy speedos, and more than likely a difference in tire circumference between the two vehicles.
EDIT: Regular Series beat me to it, lol

that could be the case, but the numbers were taken off of readings from a dyno machine. and i'm pretty sure, the calibration and readings from a dyno should be very close if not exact from one motor setup to another...
thus I may be lead to believe that my tranny may be some sort of hybrid or somethin... donn no... whatever the case, it still boggles my mind...
oh btw, there is a slight difference b/w the tire specs, but i don't think its that signifigant...
ie: 195/50/15 on my car 195/55/15 on my nephew's...

Well, the tire size can throw off the results more than you might expect. What are the years of your cars? I believe G2 Tegs had slightly shorter gearing.

There's your explanation.

ah.. well i never thought that going from 50 to 55 would make that much of a signifigant difference... I assumed that was the case, but was never certain about it...
i'll be hitting the tracks next weekend to test out the 2 different tires to see where we're really at...
thanks
