Rota Sub Zero
I am looking into getting some 17 inch wheels for my 2001 GS-R. I really like the rota sub zeros. They are fairly light, and have nice styling. I read however that they might not fit my car. Is this true? Will they fit? And what would be a reasonable price for the wheels with tires? I have found them for 899 with tires, is this good? Thanks

Machiii.net has the 17's for like $500 or so, 4 17" tires should run you about $350 more or less, that's about $850..... really depends on the price of the tire....
hey aLmoSt-vtec, stop crowding the guy, jeeeeeeeeeeesh!
yeah Walee at machiii.net is the dude to talk to for a good solid deal on Rotas. some other shops have been less than upfront about delivery times and whether the rims they offer are "in stock".
Walee is A+
Yeah the 17's look sick, but your car will be slower all around.. not as nimble, not as quick and you may not realize it until after a few months. or after a few comparos with other teggies.
I found out the hard way after spending $1500 on 18"ers that I realy prefer the nimbleness of a teg on 15" rims and super nice tires.
Luckily I sold my 18's and will never rock any thing other than a 15" on my GSR.
the turn in is fantastic with low profile tires, yet you have to be +constantly active avoiding potholes and any small bumps/ruts that other drivers would never move around, so you get NO warning if you follow people closely... dont ask
Welll to sum it up here in my report.... BUY ROTA SUB ZEROS!!!!!!!!
just be sure you want to lose the performance you gained with all of those mods by switching to a slower wheel combination instead of a a fast and grippy setup.
the 17" rotas will indeed fit, even with 215/45r17 you will fit under the wheel wells and may only get a little inside wheel well rub on the ides of the strut duringfull lock turns.
Reasonable price for Rotas can be had at machiii.net.
you have a quote with tires, but I assure you there are a lot of crap tires out there that you will not enjoy driving on. sure your rims look SWEET, but when the tires squeal every corner or hum on the highway or are harder than concrete so they have NO usuable grip..... that sucks.
get good tires! get great tires! get the best tires really.
Your welcome.
man, I love Rotas.

as a matter of fact, I just got off the phone w/ MachIII, i ordered a set of 16" Sub Zeros in bronze, he said the actual boat from Rota and Japan is said to arrive in port October 16th, and then it has to go through customs and what-not. My 16s are $450+$62 S&H to me in Western North Carolina.

Wow, Walee has made quite a name for himself. He's been in SF for what seems to be forever! I had him install my shocks and springs a couple years ago. My only gripe is that they didn't install the bumpstops. But he also gave me a good deal on my ACT clutch. No tax since I had cash and I lived in SF at that time to pick it up.
all the 16's are on back order...i ordered them from a shop called no limit and theres a few people in here that dont like them but they said their shippment is suppose to come in on the 3rd of october
