Default right tranny to use?

Here is what I currently have.

96' b18b
AEM CAI
DC 4-2-1 Header
Tanabe SRM exhaust
Crower Cams
ITR valve train
Venom 400

I am planning on finishing up my ls/vtec sometime this spring, and I have been told that swapping out my 96' ls tranny for a 00' gsr tranny, would be a good idea. What is everyone's thought on this swap?

gsr tranny would be better. type R tranny would be even better than both.

Yeah I guess that would be. However I am a high school student working on a budget, and a GSR tranny is a little more affordable than an ITR tranny.

go itr they come with the factory lsd. if your gonna do it you should at least do it right. don't know if the civic type r has one but if it does it will be slightly cheaper, slightly.

the price difference isn't big enough to justify purchasing a gsr tranny over an itr tranny. like said previously, type R comes with LSD.

Yup, the Type R tranny will have shorter gears, and you will have a factory LSD, something that my car needs badly. Go with that. It's better to do it right the first time than live with regrets. Think about it this way, If you keep the LS tranny and want an LSD, it will cost you just about as much when it's all said and done to get a Type R tranny as it would to rebuild your LS and add an aftermarket LSD.

YES the CTR has an LSD, and NO it is NOT cheaper! Lower gear ratios plus the LSD is HIGHLY WANTED and therefore cost more...
