RHD INTEGRA CONVERSION QUESTON
I recently bought a rhd front clip off ebay and im lookin to get this done over the summer. Now, i do not want to lose the car for more than a week because i wanna take a week's vacation and get this done ASAP. I understand the its alot easier to take out the firewall with the motor out, but heres my question....
Is it possible to remove the dash and change the firewall and rack, while the swap is still in the car?
I understand this is supreme laziness for such a grand project, but im just trying to gather my ideas so i can make a plan to execute over the summer. is it possible?

It might be possible, but damn you'd be shooting yourself in the foot.
Keep in mind that you need to remove the windshield and drill out the welds from inside the engine bay. Also, you need to replace the subframe, rack & pinion, hardlines, and reweld from inside the engine bay. It would be very, very difficult to do this while the engine is in the way - if it can be done at all.
Furthermore, you're significantly weaking the chassis by removing the firewall. It would be scary having the motor still attached while the chassis is so weak.
You can drop the engine in about 8 hours. 2 hours if you know what youre doing. 45 mins if you're me
j/k. What I'm saying is it doesnt take very long to remove the engine, so why not just drop the engine and give yourself some workspace?

yeah i guess your right...i figured the welds would be able to be drilled from the inside also.... and your right about losing the firewall while the swap is still in, probably bring the two ends in more with all that stress... i guess ill drop it

Haha, yes it does. But believe me it'll be worth it in the end.
FYI, I started to do a RHD conversion about a year ago. I got as far as drilling out the welds on the rhd clip when I realized that I got in over my head. I didnt have the time nor patience to finish the project. But if I took a week off from work, I might have had a chance. Good luck man - post pics when you're done!
