I just sold my car. Reverse worked fine and everything. I then dropped the car over the buyers house and collected the cash.

Him and his friend put it in reverse and drove the car to get it cleaned.

They drove it back and now they can't put it in reverse, now they are calling me asking what could be wrong with it?

It is an itr tranny w/ lsd in great condition. I 've had it in my car for about a year.

What is going on????????????

 

tell them to put it in 1st, then go in reverse

 

Maybe the guy has never owned a 5spd before; driver error?...sorry I don't know very much about the internals of transmissions.

he says that all the gears work fine. 1-5.

 

Ask him if the shifter is actually going into reverse gear or not. They might just have to put it in 1st, then reverse. I remember in my CRX i had to put it in 4th, then reverse

 

yes, tell him to run it through gears 1-4 then press the clutch down like a man and put it in Reverse

 

Yeah reverse is kind of iffy sometimes on mine. I usually put it into 3rd and then it will go into Reverse again. Is he new to manual tranny's?

 

the buyer doensn't know how to drive stick, it's his friend who is teaching him how to drive.

for some reason, i have a feeling that his friend misshifted or something while taking it for a car wash. Because he was reving my car like crazy when he test drove it. So i know i'ts possible that he was speeding when they took it out for a wash.

i'm looking at some archieved topics, but i can't seem to get a real answer.

my mechanic just told them that the linkage is too short, could that be the problem?
