Default red button under dash?????? WTF??

So i run a customizing shop out of SW wisconsin and found a red button under the dash where your left leg would be on a 96 integra. What the **** does this thing do? i disconnected it to tear the dash out and dye it blue to match the rest of the interior. plugged it back in and nothing changes when you push it or disconnect it. any ideas??? not really necessary to know but just kinda curious??

No, the maint req button is on the right side.

No clue about the red button, does it look OEM? I am pretty sure my 2000 GSR did not have that, so I am guessing it is a valet switch or customer installed kill switch that is no longer used.

I've got a black momentary push button switch on the left side of the dash, 6-8" under the steering wheel, and about 4-6" to the left... Same place as mine? I really want to know what the hell it is, almost started a thread about it last night..

i was thinkin it was for my alarm... but then i fooled with it for like a half hour. alarm still goes off in any position. I heard something like alarms are spossed to have a kill switch, maybe thats it but its not hooked up???

i have an older viper alarm system on it.

the button is definetly factory. it has a OEM plug in that says honda on it, and is attached to the under-dash piece when you take it off. nothing with an alarm, i know the only previous owner and i own it now, no aftermarket **** that he did. so im guessing maintenece light?? although mine has never come on.....? oh well thanks guys

maintence light button is blue and would be the area by your right knee.

I have a 98 GSR and have the exact same button you guys are talking about. It's not the maint. light rest button. Not sure what it does on my car as well.

Got any pics of it? Have you checked to see where the wires go to?
