Hi,
today i had a flat tire and i was changing my spare so i can get my other tire patched. I looked in the space where my spare sat at there is so much water there. How is this possible? Is there a way to stop this big pileup? What can I do to make this area stop pilingup? Please help. I think soemof u guys might have had this kind of problem.

common problem. check tail light gasket and sunroof drain tubes

 

I had the same problem a while back. I checked all the seals and finally got lazy and just drilled a small hole in floor, no more lake in my teg.

 

Be ghetto like my friend, drill holes for water to drain. (J/K)

but the problem could also be the
drain tube from your radio antena..

 

I had the same problem and thought it was the ruber bung in the floor that was the problem, i finally discovered that the towing eye (under which i used to place the trolley jack when raising the rear end) had actually come away from the floor base and road spray was casing the water lying in the spare tire well, once i had it welded up...no more water...ta da!!!

 

i drilled holes.... i guess it's one way to shave the pounds off your teg

 

i had the same proble, and i jus used plastic silicone kinda stuff and got in the trunk and got a friend to spray a hose everywhere to see where it was commin from and fixed it...no more water

where did you find it was entering from? the antenna, sunroof, or weatherstripping?

but seriously, did the car ever got in a wreck?check your tail lights gaskets first,thats the common problem spot,if not the seal around the trink, or antena. usually sunroof drain, you would see a trail on the headliner, but that could also be it.

 

i had the same problem i also notice that the carpet was also a little wet
i took everything out of the back and realized that it seemed like it was coming in by the tail light but i havent seen any more water after i just tightened everything up

Sun roof drain tube: water in the hatch? by [ Gvtec ]

This isn't a sure fire fix it, but rather a problematic area to check if you have water collecting in the hatch around the spare tire or rear floor board, after the car is rained on.

I suggest you read the articles that relate to removing the rear panel that covers the tail lights, as this will give you limited access to the two drain tubes on each side of the car. You do not need to remove the body panel that is attached to the side, but it was done so previously in this car and aids in visual perspective.



So what are these drain tubes and what goes wrong?

The sun roof has four drain tubes, according to the Helms; one venting to each corner of the cabin. I've yet to see the front tubes, but I'm sure they are there and don't seem to pose a problem, like the rear. The idea behind these tubes is they drain water away from the sun roof's slide and the tubes connect to a 90 degree flexible elbow, which directs flow to outside the cabin. The tubes easily slide out of the elbow, which can cause water to collect inside the rear cabin.



You'll need to reach inside and place the tube back into the elbow. Very, very easy to do. You could also ensure it doesn't happen again, by securing the hose connection with zip-ties or even duct tape.

If you find the hoses are connected to the elbows, you might want to source the hatch's gasket.
