Radio Code Question...I HAVE THE CODE BUT IT DOESNT WORK
Went to Pohanka Acura this afternoon and get the Radio Code for my CD player, bought the car from someone who didn't have the code. But when I went to enter it in, it didn't work. I tried disconnecting the radio, the battery, and other things to re-set things but nothing happened. Does anyone have any idea why it still isn't working. Serial # is FAO31453 and the Code they gave me is 25615 if that helps.
The only thing i can think of is its the wrong serial number. Are you positive the Serial # is FAO31453. Its possible the O in the serial number is really a zero.
U could be right but I believe there is a 5 digit string of numbers so it should be right. BUMP for any help
Keep your car running for an hour, yes an hour. And then try it, my friend just had this same problem, dealer told him to keep it on for an hour, he did so, entered the code and it worked fine.
I'll give it a try I guess anything is worth a shot. If not I'll just get an Alpine piece and call it a day
Its REALLY FUNNY how honda put more security into the $50 piece of crap radios then they did into the car itselfs security.
Do people in japan steal OEM radios or what?

That hour thing is on Eclipse's Headunits, for when you enter the wrong code in too many times. Not sure what else it's used on.
the only thing i can say is when you enter the code do it in a consistent pattern if you go too fast it will give and error message same as if you go too slow. thats all i can think of, thats what we told people at the dealership i worked at hope that helps.............if anything by a alpine, i love mine
I think Im gonna give up on this one. If you or anyone you know of has a ITR CD player for sale I want it. I have upgraded my interior panels and gauges to ITR so I might as well start looking for the amber headunit as well...even know its only bulbs. So an ITR unit with a WORKING code is what Im going for now
Hey, i had the same problem a few weeks ago, turns out that karen radley acura off of rt 1. gave me the wrong code 2 times, finally got the service guy to put in the code he gave me and he was like "oh" went back to his computer and gave me the correct code.

Well seeing as how Japan and the Americas use completely different radios (Japanese radio broadcasts on a completely different range of frequencies, our radios don't work over there, theirs wouldn't work over here), then I really don't think what goes on in Japan has anything to do with it.
Don't you remember how back in the late 80's and early 90's, cars would get broken into and stereos get stolen, even factory ones, to be sold on the black market? I'm sure the anti-theft code feature stems from that era.

factory radios are expensive to replace. some people do like factory radios....like me. i like the factory look but wanted an in-dash cd changer. so, i now have a 00 honda accord radio. new, it costs about 600 bucks, ebay...under 100.
