Default Radiator Problem, help

Today i park in front of the barbershop and i get out and i see smoke coming from my front grill by the radiator. IT was leaking antifreeze , so i checked the hoses and there fine i think my radiator is fucked. SO i was wondering if anyone could reccomend me some nice racing radiators that are not overly expensive but perform better then stock. if someone could provide me links or some suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

I dunno how much they cost but Koyo and Fluidyne seem to be really popular. You can buy and aftermarket replacement for about a $100 bucks though.

I just bought the one from radiatorbarn.com for a gsr and it was about 130 shipped. Seems like alot of people on here recommend them.

I wouldn't say it is better than OEM. If you have the money that go with an after market radiator. I have an H22 swap in my teg but I use the stock GSR radiator with no problems. I would invest in a different thermostat and switch if cooling is an issue with your car.

i dont i was going to go turbo pretty soon and like if i buy koyo or fluyidine its gonna set me back like 300-400, and i wasnt going to go higher then 8 PSI tuned, so like im stuck now, do you know any other aftermarket radiators that are not that highly priced, like around 200 or something, because i think 300 and 400 is way too much for now.

With a stock radiator, thermostat and switch (Mugen has some lower temp stuff that kicks ***) you won't need Fluidyne or Koyo. Check out http://www.kingmotorsports.com for the Mugen stuff. You'll be at right about $250 with a new OEM style radiator Mugen switch and thermostat. You can also get cheaper thermostat that will engage at lower temperatures so overheating won't be an issue.

Yep. I know guys who boost with EG radiators. They use them because often times the turbo system you use is too big to fit.

My 1/2 size wasn't big enough to keep my non-boosted R motor cool on the track. I'd get temp creep and have to run the heater to keep the temp down. Just something to think about. The 'stat has no affect on total effectiveness of the radiator. Once they're open, they all flow the same amount of fluid. Lower temp 'stat might improve HP and reduce detonation but, that's about it.

what kind of rad. was it? with my koyo halfsize I can drive it hard and no creep from the guage, only creeps a little when in traffic on hot days, and I got no fan on it. Im gonna put one on in a few weeks when im boosted tho. just to be safe.

Half core off ebay sounds about what your lookin for... the thing with radiators is they dont really out perform stock that much. Really just either have a higher fluid capacity or maybe cool a fuzz more. Ive seen some insane high hp cars runnin ebay half cores... i wouldnt recommend a high priced radiator.

yea but ive heard the ebay ones can crack over time, plus the aluminum ones on ebay are like $150 + shipping, I would rather spend some more and get a koyo so I know it wont crack (or less likely)

Thats true, its probably a better investment. Although, turbo will probably blow your engine before your radiator will crack, just a thought.

+1

bought the all-metal version of the OEM radiator (stock has plastic caps for the top and bottom). you need nothing more as long as your radiator fan works properly. getting a race radiator is a waste of money unless you're going for $Bling$ for whatever reason. No conversion, no worries about fitment, and easy install.

just get the one from radiator barn

edit: from order to my door was about 2 days! great company $120+ shipped to my door
