Default Quick tranny question

Is the b16 cable tranny the only one with 24 splines on the shaft that sticks out of the tranny? I need to know this before I go and drop a few bills on a clutch kit.

off the top of my head i don't know, but if the seller is competent and a decent person they should be able to check for your to make sure of the number of splines and the shaft size for you. it doesn't take a genius to count the number of dimples in the hole in the clutch disc.

The car that the seller took the tranny off of was a crx w/ a b18c1 in it. Will this si tranny bolt up to my 92 da with a 90-91 clutch kit?

well for starters, if the CRX it was in had a cable trans then maybe. if it was a whole GSR swap with hydro trans then there is no way it will work for you. it doesn't matter what engine it was used on as all b-series w/ flywheel (not flex-plate) are the same. what matters is the transmission it goes with. you need to ask the seller what transmission he used it on.

It is definetly a cable tranny. I just need to know if the si cable tranny that worked in the crx would work in my car. He also said it had the same gear ratios as the type r.

well you need to know if he had the big spline or small spline cable transmission. just because it was in a CRX doesn't mean anything. CRX's didn't come with b-series transmissions in the first place, so you need to find out what transmission.

Do you know by chance how big or small exactly the splines are?

i don't keep measurements but ask the seller if the clutch is for big splines or small splines. what year B16 trans is it? i thought it was all later YS1's had big splines, but B16's were all small splines. i could easily be wrong here. try searching on this issue.

Im trying to find out which tranny this is by process of elimination. Now I just counted 24 splines on the shaft that sticks out of the tranny. According to what I have been reading, the early year crx/ civic have only 20 or 21 splines. Which trannys have a spline count of 24? Im pretty sure that all 92 and up cars have 26.

if you cant find your answer there, then i cant help you, and you can get a hydro tranny to work where a cable tranny used to be... its just hard as hell to do
