2.5" is probably too big unless it's really built up or has FI. I'm using a stock Type-R cat-back (2.25" mandrel bent piping) with a DC 4-2-1 header, and my gains are good for just I/H/E. 126.4 whp and 116.7 wtq on my last dyno, and that was on a hot day and with a short ram intake (aluminum heat magnet).

The GS-R header and exhaust will not fit a LS, but the Type-R parts will fit, iirc. I know the Type-R cat-back fits, but I'm not 100% sure about the header.

well if that is the case I will most likly just get the skunk2 exhaust...any opinions...

the thing is though I have no idea of what header to get or what would preform the best... I was thinking jg but not sure...

I no this is a stupid question but I have been wondering for a while... ok say the itr header does match up.. is it even a good choice...seeing ls have a more tq down low and not so much top end and its the oposite for the itr... and are you considering cams as a bolt on???

I like the 403s just fine. They gave me pretty good top end. I'm thinking of getting some headwork done, and if so I will go with the 404's, get them tuned and get some cam gears, and call it quits.

If you're not into all that then imo the 403s definately make a great cam

i run 403's, wouldn't use anything larger for a street car, well maybe a 403 with a touch more lift, but no more duration.

on that dyno run it was I/H/E, crower 403's, ported head, pullies, FPR and a lightend stock flywheel......

the header was restrictive with a 2" collector and the exhaust was also a restrictive 2" crush bent custom made exhaust..........
