95 Integra:

I modified the 9005 (Highbeam Lights) to work in the 9006 (headlight) socket. Will this be ok? These lights wont over heat the wires? I looked at both light sockets and they look like they have the same guage wire. Thanks

BTW: I just bought some 100w (9005) Glacier Blue bulbs. Those are the ones I modified to fit in the 9006 socket.

 

i am running the cool blue 9005's in mine and have not had a problem in the 4 months since i did the conversion. but they are not 100w blubs, so your case maybe different.

I highly discourage the use of any high wattage bulbs, especially in a Honda, which does not use headlight relays in the electrical system like other cars do. This means that 200W (17 amps of current) is all going through you headlight stalk. Not good. I've had normal 60W 9005's for a year now with zero problems.

 

is the stock bulb 100W for 9005?

 

standard 9006 bulbs = 51W (1000 lumens output)
standard 9005 bulbs = 60W (1700 lumens output)

For comparison, the 9004 65/45W (nominal) bulbs used in G2 Integras put out a measley 700 lumens on the low beams.

Standard 4300K HID lights draw about 35W per side, and put out about 3200 lumens.
