Default quick header question..

Putting on a DC 4-1 header into a practicallly stock 2000 LS.(Stock exhaust)
Do I need a new header gasket too? or is it just recommended?
Do I need any other modifications before this install?

Thanx

The flange on the cat is too small. YOu need to get a modified flange to accept the 2.5" collector.

Might as well get a 2.5" cat. IM SMSP for one.

Unless he's talking about the JDM 4-1, it will bolt right up to the stock cat. And yes, you should get a new exhaust manifold gasket, they're not that expensive. The donut gasket on your stock manifold should pop right off and you just slide it on the DC header.

Actually, I would recommend re-using the manifold gasket and replacing the donut gasket.

yea the non-jdms bolt right up, and you need not to buy a new gasket, the old one should be sufficient.

you should look into getting a 4-2-1 header. the ls is better at low end torque and the 4-2-1 will help you more. the 4-1 is better if you have vtech

Re-use both gaskets, just be very careful when removing the donut gasket on the end of the collector...

Should be an easy install, I fit the headers underneeth the car and lifted them into place, with very little problems, you may need to angle them up, cuz it is tight with the 1 piece, have fun...

for the ls motor, the 4-2-1 setup is going to be more sufficient due to the fact the b18b is more concentrated on low end torque & mid range power. For upper range power the 4-1 is a better choice, those with the gsr and R should make use of that.
