Default QUESTION! Type-R Pistons!

I want to boost my Compression Ratio, and I know the ITR pistons will do the job. What else do I need to buy/do to get them working well? Will it work just fine with just the pistons? Is it plug and play?

I don't want to get CTR pistons because that'll boost my CR too high. I'm really considering to get ITR pistons. LMK- I'd like EVERY bit of information I can get. I would also like to know how much Gain i can expect with ITR pistons. LMK- Thanks!

if your gonna go through the hassle your probably better off getting JDM ITR or CTR pistons for more compresson and more power..............you will need new rings and i would recomend new rod bearings as well.........

so CTR Pistons. New rings, and Rod Bearings? How much power do you think I will gain with my setup? You think its worth it, or should I just forget about it?

thats what I'm scare of. If i get ITR pistons, 91 pump gas will be fine, but with the CTR cams, there could be some problems...

Yes.. you need 94 when you get too far up there with the compression... so it would be a bad thing to do all that to find that you cant get the right gas for it :\..

If your head is not milled you can use CTR pistons with a TODA 1.0mm headgasket and you should be running about 11.9:1 compression which should be fine for 91-92 octane gas.
If you use JDM ITR pistons with stock headgasket then you'll run about 11:3:1 compression which is more than safe for 91 octane. Both choices are good, take a pick.

Heh prepare to pay a very, and i mean very hefty labor bill installing that stuff.

You gotta get new gaskets. I bought the OEM bottom end gasket kit from inlinefour.com for like 45 dollars or something. I remember you saying your car was fairly new and low mileage. like 7000 or something? If thats the case you don't need new rod bearings. Keep your stock bearings/rods etc. Like someone said, you're going to have to get new piston rings. Make sure someone hones your block. But don't shave off too much.

edit: Sorry OT but do you have a pic of your car with oem kit and type R spoiler?

Sorry, but I don't have a picture of my car on the computer.

As for my car being new... yes. It only has 8000 miles on it now. And you said labor will be alot... How much do you think a shop will charge to do the work?? Worth the money?

Expect it to be around 800 dollars. Taking out pistons takes a long time as is alot of work...If this is worth it, thats up to you to decide. No one said n/a was cheap hehe. You can get a used jrsc for around 1500 .
