question about my engine....
I forgot to put the oil dipstick back on and while i was driving there was smoke coming out of the engine so wen i got home i opened the hood and there was oil all over the place...so i was wondering how u can clean the oil from the engine??
damn that sucks...use simple green and water...go over with water on the non electrical stuff with the car still cold. Get a brush of some sort and start scrubbing away. Elbow grease is what will get that off.
My engine bay is a little dirty..I'm thinking of taking the battery out on a nice hot day and just power washing everything. I'll put some plastic over the electrical stuff the best I can otherwise everything is getting wet and sprayed off! Then I'll let it dry off in the hot sun. Let it sit for a long time before starting the car.

Simple Green works great, you could also try using foaming engine degreaser. Make sure you cover you distributor and any other major electronics and spray the engine down with the degreaser, then spray it off with a hose. After that I normaly use the simple green as a final cleaner.
After you spit shine your engine bay and motor with either simple green, purple power, or watever you choose to use, you might see some oil residue evaporate/burn off your headers and other high temp components. Dont panic, its part of the circle of life, let em burn!
