This might be a dumb question but what is a inlet...for ex: 2.5" inlet or 3" inlet -- i got a exhaust on my car and i need a silencer but i dont know what the inlet is....

usually when people say 'inlet' they are referring to the inner diameter of something or it can mean the portion of piping thats the start or beginning of flow. if you need a silencer for exhaust you should measure the inner diameter of the muffler tip (that's where most silencers are mounted).
