plug wire question
I bought a set of used NGK pkug wires that were supposed to be in very good condition but I'm not so sure. Everything about them is fine except where the rubber covers seal around the spark plug holes on the valve cover. 3 out of 4 of them are messed up and dont really seal. My question is what can happen because of this?? I could see water getting in there through either water some how getting under the hood or just from condensation building up. Keep in mind I live in the NW where its real rainy all the time.
Should I be worried about this?? I'm pissed because my old stock NGK's with 200K on them have perfect seals around the sparkplugs holes still but yet these new ones that are supposed to be in very good condition have 3 out of the 4 plug wires with messed up seals.

You definitely want them to seal properly. Why did you buy a used set when your old ones were in apparent good condition? I don't think I'd ever buy used parts that allow my car to funcion well on a daily basis, espically something as critical as spark plug wires.
Well because my old spark plug wires were bad and I needed a new set ASAP. I bought the used set of NGK's blue wires because they were supposed to be in very good condition, and they would be if the seals on them were not all messed up.
I mean my old ones lasted 200K, I figured a lightly used set would last me for a while with no problems. So what should I do? Do I now need another set? This pisses me off, shitty sellers that dont give accurate descriptions of there goods.

Even if the wire appears good on the outside, 200k miles of use will wear out the inside. I bet if you did a resistance check, you'd find they're probably over 10k ohm of resistance per foot
^^^
Thats why they were replaced, the ohms were bad. The new wires are fine, its just the seals around the spark plug holes are messed up. I dont understand how my 15 year old one with 200K on them have seals in perfect condition still and they newer ones are fvcked up.

Here are the new plug wires vs my old stock ones with 200K. You can see how bad the seal is on the new ones and how its still good on the old ones. 3 out of the 4 wires are like that.

is your car stock by any chance internals and head work wise if it is why are you waisting your money on those plugs? honestly your better off with the factory plugs and wires unles your pushig more then 300 horse's. its been proven that the stock ignition system holds its own thats just my opinion but you do wat you want.
What are you talking about? Those are just NGK OE replacement wires. And he isn't changing his whole ignition system, just plugs and wires. And using performance plugs and wires on even a stock GSR can make a difference. Maybe only 1 or 2 hp, but it can also improve throttle response, and the better spark you get means better combustion, which can help milage. Anyway, those wires should be fine as long as they pass the resistance check and the rest of the wire is fine
Yea, they are just OEM replacement NGK's so there nothing special. I checked out the Ohms with a DMM and they are fine, I was just worried about them not sealing around the spark plug hole. So as long as you guys dont see any problems with the seals the way they are I'm going to continue to use them.
One thing I did notice between these wires and my old ones is the car seems to start alot better with the new wires. Not that it ever had a problem with starting, but you can definitely tell a difference.

OEM replacement, not OEM though, Just pick some up from autozone for $20-25,
That are suppose to be actual stock wires.
And what's up with the ground cable on your valve cover?
