Ok so I just got this car. 94 ls. Sometimes it will start just fine but other times it will just click. But if you jump the starter to the battery, it starts up right away. Tried 2 new starters and new battery. Any ideas?

Also the clutch doesn't have to be pressed in to start the car. It's always been 5spd, not converted.

Grounds boss, the transmission to chassis ground is probably your culprit, but you should change them all. On a car that old, the wires have lost a lot of conductivity. Just replace them with some good 4 gauge or 2 gauge if you run a big stereo and some good gold plated connectors Good luck

I think your alternator is not recharging honestly.Sometimes it get a good charge and then some days it not charging enough juice.

When it only clicks, "it will just click" is the click under the dash or in the engine bay?
If the click is only under the dash it is the starter relay and it is most likely bad, [main contacts].

It is unlikely a grounding issue if a bypass jump works, "if you jump the starter to the battery".
It is also unlikely a charging issue, again because a bypass jump works.

If the car starts without pressing the clutch, the CIS has been bypassed, [jumped]. 94

unplug the black and white wire on the starter solenoid and check for power. It's not your starter since u can jump it.
