Default Please Help me

Dear integras funs.. sorry about my english, i am from uruguay, :south america and i really need your help.

i hit my gearbox with a rock on the street and i broke it..

i compromised the structure of it..

in uruguay the acura integra its a rare car and we dont have any parts to buy for this car.
looking on ebay, oemacuraparts.com etc i found used gearbox for about 700us..

i need a very important infomation that maybe you can give me.. i have acura integra gsr 2000, my engine is a b18c1 right? now my question, WHICH ANOTHER HONDA CAR HAVE THE EXACTLY this GEARBOX OR COMPATIBLE? because maybe i can found a civic, or a prelude, gearbox that is a popular car here.

please i am very sad because my car is dead now :cry

Any 94+ b series manual trans will fit with no issue. The gear ratios will be widely different, so try to find another one from a b18c1.

In addition to what doood said, you could also try to find a case from a 94+ b series hydro manual trans to swap the internals from your trans into. Just another option if your budget is tight. A bare case probably wouldn't be to hard to come across and on top of that, shipping would definitely be cheaper because the 40lbs worth internals wouldn't be in the case.

Another option would be to take the trans appart and find someone in your area that can tig weld aluminum. They could weld the case back together and you would just have to re-assemble everything and put it in the car.

Just trying to throw some other possibilities out there because I know how expensive shipping a trans to Uruguay from the states would be.

In the future, please follow this: https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-integra-6/creating-new-topic-choose-subject-specific-title-not-help-me-asap-2477272/

Welcome to Honda-tech as well.

^^ agreed, those are yhe easiest and cheapest ways. Having it welded would be the cheapest, and either way you would have to take it apart. So I would just have it welded.

Any Integra or Civic Si with a B16 engine. But you'll want to just look at GS-R, TypeR, and Si transmissions if possible.

If you can find someone who can do a partial transmission rebuild for you, you could buy just a transmission case, as 1998GsRIntegra suggested. That might be possible to find used, or you could order from a dealer. You could also try hitting up Gearspeed or Synchrotech (H-T sponsors, active on the forums) to see if they have spare cases they could sell you.

I'd be happy to sell you my used GS-R transmission, but it is probably cost-prohibitive to ship a transmission to Uruguay!

just swap cases. the internals don't need to come apart to do it. it's fairly straight forward. you could do it yourself, depending on how inclined you are, or pay someone. shouldn't cost much

As far as gear ratios are concerned a real upgrade for you would be to get a JDM Integra type r transmission. The gear ratios are a bit closer than those of a gsr transmission, but the final drive would be a 4.785 to your gsr's 4.4. Higher final drive makes the overall gear ratios shorter. On top of that the itr trans come with an LSD while your gsr trans is just an open differential.

Personally, I think getting the case welded is probably the most cost effective method. If your going to buy another trans entirely look for one from a JDM itr. Used ones go for $800-$1200ish USD now a days.

The cheapest will be to have someone weld it for you, I have a welded GS-R transmission in my 94 RS, [it came out of a car that was in a bad accedent].

Your best option in, as has been suggested, is to find just a case, it will be cheaper to buy and ship. 94

Not recommending it just means that they don't feel like fooling with it. It's really not all that difficult to weld up a cracked trans case. Good luck with what ever you end up getting/having done.

If you can't find anyone to weld it, you either have to buy a new case or a whole new transmission. Maybe you need to ask more than one shop.

As stated before, if you can find a transmission from a 94-01 Integra or 96-00 Civic SI, it would be a direct swap. Yes, the gearing would be different if you pick anything besides a GSR, but at least you'd have your car back.

To answer your original question: No, no other transmissions have the same gearing as a GSR.

If you think the internals are ok, buy a used empty case. It will be lighter and cheaper to ship.

Reparar o comprar un nuevo caso para la transmisión. Sólo el GSR será el mismo.

well i must buy a gearbox on US and take it to my country.. so.. the type R gearbox fit perfectly on my gsr 2000 dohc vtec? or i have to adapt it?

because if i can upgrade my car spending this money its less painfull..

but if i need to adapt it i cant spend more money and i buy a gsr original one.

what you say ?

thanks again !!!

It's a direct swap. No modification of any kind is required.

if it were me, i'd just find a case from any b-series hydraulic clutch transmission. any of them will work. this way you're only replacing what's necessary. there's nothing wrong (hopefully) with the rest of the transmission. it's only the case. that would be the most cost effective route. aside from having the case welded

I think you will find the cost to ship from Uruguay prohibitive. I checked out UPS and I estimate the shipping cost for a transmisson to be about $2000 USD to Montevideo. Your best bet is to find a local welder, or a junkyard with a transmission from any manual transmission integra.
