Default overheating issue!?

I was driving my car home from work yesterday and noticed the temp gauge raising all the way, then drops acting retarded! (The performance feels odd once this happened) So I got home and checked under the hood for any antifreeze or anything unusual. Didnt see anything.. I tried starting the car 30 mins later and it wouldn't even crank. I checked for loose grounds & everything was straight.. it was to cold and dark out for me to start fuckan with this thing, I left it for the following day. In the morning it cranked and started right up first try, I drove it for 10 to 15 mins until the temp gauge started acting up again. I Turned it off and tried to start it, didnt crank!
Thermostat has about 1k miles on it.. Help

Did you check to see if the hoses were abnormally hot? Cant think of what would cause the no start other then the main relay starting to go bad but I doubt its that.

If not thermostat, maybe low coolant, ac condensor fins all smashed, water pump stopped working, or radiator clogged. Could even be a head gasket leak.

Check fan too, but probably not the issue if the car was moving at good speed and it started to overheat.

Coolant levels are good, condensor fins seem to be in good condition.. how can i tell if rad is clogged? Antifreeze looks good (No oxidation). How ever, my heat just works when i drive.. my temp gauge never acted up prior to this. So im guessing its the Water pump

A no crank problem is either the starter motor or starter motor circuit, and that includes the main grounds.

When you say, " I checked for loose grounds" died you actually redo them or just eyeball them?

The only way to confirm a good ground is to redo them, disconnect/clean/reconnect.

The overheating issue sounds like air in the system, bleed the coolant system.

Make sure rad fan is turning on when engine temp. gauge reads past the 1/2 way point. 94

Sounds like the t-stat I had something similar when I first bought my car, temp would go up and down randomly and be ice cold on the freeway lol. test it and for the money it cost may as well replace it.

Try replacing the temp sensor under the distributor. I had a very similar problem. No problems starting it after several hours of sitting, but any time before the engine completely cooled down and it wouldn't start.
Report back/let us know if this fixes the problem.

The temp gauge wasn't over heating when turned off.. would the temp sensor interfere with it starting? Car hasnt been moved since last night.. Also, she would normally start up in the morning but not today.

It sure seemed to in my case. I replaced that sensor and never had a restart issue again.
