Default over heating

my car was over heating, but cooled after 3 min or less... so i thought it was the termostat not opening up.. so then i change the stat.. now it doesnt cool back down to normal temp.. pls help

i had the same problem where my car was over heating like a mother. i've learned that if you use a aftermarket thermostat, they dont always work well, sounds stupid but trust me. get your self an oem if you dont already have it. it also can be(like in my case) that you fan has failed, so you might have to wire it directly, where you control it with a switch., you also might want to try to bleed the system when your replacing you thermostat,if all this fails then good luck.

make sure your fan runs fine and flush out the radiator in case its a bit clogged. Aftermarket thermostats are fine.

You probably just have air in the system. Just flush out your cooling system.

If you havent removed the air from the cooling system after installing the Stat .,then its the air .
