Default obd2 to obd1 conversion question... searched

i have a 98 gsr w/ basic bolt ons. im throwning a cel due to no o2 in my cat b/c i put in a high flow cat. i know that the obd2 involves 2 o2 sensors in the header and cat and the obd1 only has 1 o2 sensor in the header correct?

my question: if i do a obd1 conversion, will i still throw a cel? since the obd1 only reads one o2 sensor in the header which i have.

my gas mileage is horrible and i am hoping if i do this, my gas mileage will improve.

thanks

you could go obd1. or you could buy/make an o2 simulator. i don't know much about them, but i'm sure there's some info somewhere around here.

OBD2 has two O2 sensors
1 primary in the cat
1 secondary in the cat

OBD 1 has two O2 sensors
1 primary in the header
1 secondary in the cat

You can get a simulator to remove the CEL

If you switch to OBDI you will not have a cel, OBDII uses the 2nd O2 in the cat and OBDI only uses the header and one in the front of the cat.

You could also just get a bung and stick that O2 in your high flow cat.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Lan &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">OBD2 has two O2 sensors

obd1 only has one 02 sensor; in the cat for gsrs and in the header for everything else.
