normal life of and integra
ok so i have a 98 integra gsr and i was just windering how long do integras usually last? mine has about 885xx miles and i was just curious thats all. also if i could get an idea of thigs that should be replaced at a certian mileage that would be terrific. thanks for the help
you should change your water pump along with your timing belt if it hasnt been changed yet...
and to answer your original question....ive seen a teg with 400,xxx miles on it....does anyone have that picture?...ive seen it last year

ok umm is that all and im nto sure if it has been bc i got it from a dealership about 2 months ago. and as for beating on it if i just mess around once and while thats not bad for the car is it ?
my teg has 190xxx on it and doesnt leak, smoke, or anything. no problems at all.. i baby the hell out of it though.
u need to change your water pump, all the belts would be good.
when i got mine with 115000 on it i did the following:
1. oil and tranny fluid change
2. new intake and filter
3. plugs and wires
4. water pump
5. ALL belts
6. ALL gaskets
7. Coolant Flush
and then i did a few misc. engine de-gunk stuff...
it was kinda an overkill but it made me feel better and it was a good investment in my mind. 300 bucks.. if that.. to last me another few years before it'll need it again.

My 94 GS-R has 250,000 on it and runs near perfect and doesn't burn any oil (any more than just the normal slight amount). I currently get as much as 38 mpg on the highway.
Over the years I have replaced things like axles, timing belts, and clutches. Those are normal wear items. I have also replaced the alternator and radiator, as those original items eventually gave out. I replaced my original O2 sensor a couple months ago (big increase in MPG), and just this past Saturday I replaced my original worn out steering rack.
Other things like bushings, ball joints, wheel bearings, etc. will wear out over time, as well. I put money into my car to replace these sorts of things every now and then, but to me it's better than having to shell out $300+ every month on a car payment.

Well you need to do the timing belt and water pump now because the interval is 90K miles, and if it breaks on you, your engine is usually destroyed. That's preventative maintenance.
Things like axles and clutch you should change when they physically become worn out (you see a boot torn, hear it clicking in turns, feel the clutch slipping or difficulty shifting gears, etc.). Other stuff like the radiator, alternator, steering rack, etc. you just change when the break or wear out.
There's only a few things that NEED to be changed at regular intervals, before the parts actually fail, in order to keep the engine in good shape. Everything else you just replace as needed.

exactly. i just did all mine just because i am like that. Honda parts are very realiable. as long as ur not ridin around beatin on it ALL THE TIME like i see from quite a few people they will last no problems
engine/transmission oil change frequently(tranny not as often), tune up every 30k, and lastly driving highway whenever you can and NOT beating on it, your engine will last you longer.
some guy posted picture of an integra with over 600k original miles...

i know theres a 94 rs with like 604k miles or somthing at a dealer in north carolina i think.
btw in your first post it says 885k miles, obviously thats a typo, but you may wanan fix it.
heres an idea, you just got the integra, so start saving now and by the time the teg breaks youll be able to get yourself an s2k.

My 94 GSR Sedan has 188,xxx on it and leaks oil like a ****. Its my 2nd DD so it sees little road time.
I am starting to acguire parts I need and when the time comes it will get a complete overhaul.
New gaskets, seals, rings, bearings, clutch. I plan on spending about 800.00 to get her back up to tip top shape.
But I still drive it no worries just check my oil level weekly. I bought it from a non maintenance ricer so I feel like I saved this car. Once I get it back up to my approval I will sell my other car and keep this as my Daily.
Stay on top of maintenance and you have many miles and years left on your car.

I'd suggest you look at the service manual. Your next tune/fix should be (like Patrick said) the 90k service. As long as you mantain it well it will last a long time. And just because you beat the heck out of your car don't mean it won't last. People do it all the time and just swap out parts, but do you have $ to throw away?

I have 142xxx on my DA...Runs great. I have a slight oil leak due to a bad cam seal which is get'n replaced along with my BC Cam install.
I'm the second owner and bought it about 2 years ago with 107xxx and have only had to replace the timing belt, water pump and ignition coil...I've owned several Honda/Acuras and all of them ran great for many many miles and I have only had to due minor/regular repairs on them...They are just built to last and thats why I love them.

i bought my 90 integra gs from some ricer who took absolutely no care of it for $100. extremely clean for a $100 DA, i jumped all over that deal like white on rice. immediately cleaned it up, replaced a few parts like the timing belt, air filter, oil filter, etc, and now its runnin great.
unfortunately it costed a lot to get past inspection because it needed a new steering rack, and 1 of the tires was basically out of thread. but still a very good deal i got.
like i said, its running great now and it has 213xxx miles on it

yeah i have some money but i mean i do baby it most of the time and never have redlined my car to begin with i usually take it just driving around normal to like 3,500 or 4,000 rpms or if im trying to do a lil more nothing over 7,000 rpm so i really dont consider that to bad but maybe im wrong?

I dunno man, I just keep it maintained. I run fuel injector cleaner at every oil change (3K miles). I've done this since I bought the car 165K miles ago. My mpg was nearly that high back then, but it steadily decreased over time. I was still on the original O2 sensor w/ 240K miles on it, so when I changed it, it took a big jump back up.
And yes, it was really 38 mpg. I drove just over 400 miles and it took about 10.6 gallons to fill it up to the top.
