i have had my gsr now for about 2 months and have no complaints except for the amount of rattling and noises i hear from the car.. i only drove the car stock for about a week before the headers n exhaust got in... is this normal for all of u that have tegs out there? thanx

 

what kind of rattles are they? are they exhaust heatshield rattles? if so...i fixed mine by getting out of the car, looking at where the piping wapoo pooing (there was a distinct mark from all the rubbing), and i bent the heatshield a little, just enough to kill the rattle. hope that helps.

 

Yeah, it's pretty normal. Mine rattles a ton, especially around 3500 RPM. I took off my heat sheilds, and it helped a lot of the rattles, but I still have some. Isn't it a bummer? I have a hard time believeing that these cars are supposed to be luxury type cars. The road noise in mine is insane.

 

the road noise i dont especially mind (mostly cause i never have the radio on- i love listening to the car (?), but the rattles i hear are more like if they were comming from the dash or inside the car.. i know when the chassis bends when i take a dip or something cause i hear it out of the hatch, but i was wondering with the added vibration of exhaust and springs, that if the car in general would seem to rattle more? thanx guys

my dash creaks sometimes, but only when its cold. Its really weird how my rattles can be severe then i can't hear them after 10 minutes of driving.

 

after i got my intake put in, my glove box and everything in it vibrates when im at WOT goin into vtec.

My car also has a lot of rattles (kinda like a metallic rattling sound) when I am crusing or when I'm accelerating slowly especially between 2500-3000 rpm. What the hell is it b/c for a while my dad thought that the car was pinging

 

my hatch kinda rattled.. and the dash kinda creaks when its really cold outside.. i just turn on the radio and dont hear it anymore.. for the hatch you can try adjusting those rubber post things i think..

I hate the road noise in my RS, Im pretty sure it has the least sound deadening of any other Integra!!!! In the next week or so I going to buy some heavy weight carpet foam and line underneath the carpet, doors, and tunk. This shuld make the ride ALOT quieter!

 

I have a lot of interior rattles on my 98 LS. The dash a/c vents, sunroof liner, dome light, interior third brake light, and hatch all rattle or squeak. I did fix three major sources of noise though, which you might want to check on your car:

1) The rear license plate was attached by the dealer without a plastic frame using *really* long bolts. They were long enough to actually make contact with the metal body of the car and cause a *loud* rattle when going over bumps.

2) I had an aftermarket alarm that was so poorly installed that I had to go back and re-do a lot of it myself. They had left a lot of sensors and relays just dangling behind the front kick panels (near the driver's left foot) inside my car as well as leaving my CPU unbolted and rattling around.

3) My trailer hitch electrical wiring was also poorly installed. They too left the relay boxes just dangling loosely in the acces panel for the rear taillights -- rattling against the metal body of the car.

It disturbs me that this seems to be the norm when you have aftermarket stuff installed. Haven't these guys heard of electrical tape and zip ties? Also it seems that the interior panels, once removed, don't quite fit as tightly as they used to. I even tried replacing the plastic snap-on fasteners with new ones from the dealer. it helped a little, at least for the ones I broke =/

Buy a RSX. Honda/Acura listened and fixed all those rattles/noises.

 

I just got back from the carpet place, I picked up a 6' x 20' peice of heavy carpet foam for $10.00! He just had it lying around so he gave it to me for dirt cheep. Tonight after work Im going to put a layer underneath my caret, door panles, rear panles, and a double layer in the trunk. This should take away a ton of road noise.

I'll let you guys know how it goes.

The civic is a great car, don't underestimate its low price tag

I got most of the capet goam n my car now. I still need to do the rear panels and some of the trunk. I am very pleased with the results so far. I would compair it to a new Accord. Im sure it will only get quieter as I add more. Oh yeah, this Foam bearley adds any weight!
