Is this normal?
Hi guys! I was driving home tonight and when I was about to shift from 3rd to 4th at 5K rpm, it feels like I could have change gear without having to push in the clutch. Reason why I said this is because when I put my hand on the shiftnob and about to change gear which I soon realize that I forgot to hit the clutch, my shiftnob move almost to neutral which I said to myself "wtf". Which as of right now, it makes me think that I might albe to change gear without having to hit the clutch. Can anyone confirm this for me?
thanks

yea man, its called rev matching, rev up the rpms, and you can just push the shifter into gear, but you have to match the right revs in the different gears. correct me if im wrong but it reduces clutch ware and tear?

power shifting is when you are accelerating, and you push the clutch in, change gears and release the clutch without taking your foot off the gas...

i've pretty much mastered rev matching, practiced on this old shtter car i had, but i dont think its bad for the motor if you know exactly how and when to do it though...

You can shift off the RPMs, meaning the higher the RPM the easier it is to do it. You when shift you release off the gas push the clutch in shift and then press the gas. When you release the gas you have almost a 2 second window to shift with out the clutch. I've done it a few times to get the feel of it. Comes in handy when you're clutch is going out. But 1st and 2nd can be jerky at times.

Rev-matching only happens when down-shifting. The OP was upshifting 3rd to 4th.
You can pull it out of gear w/o releasing the clutch. That's no big deal. Getting it in is another story. Don't try anything crazy, just shift as you normally would. There's no point in trying to shift in special ways to save wear and tear on the tranny. The synchros are there for a reason, use them.
