Noobish question.

Default Noobish question.

If i take off my valve cover.. will i have to replace the gasket .. or can i use the original?

Depends on how many miles since you replaced it. Although, it's only $10-12 @ the dealer, so why not just replace it.

I just bought the car.. and i really have no idea when it was last changed.. i understand how cheap they are.. but i just want to check things out in there so i was only curious.. might aswell wait.

just took my valve cover off to repaint, and used the same gasket when i put it back on. my car is at 150k, and the gasket (being the original) looks just as good as a new one. some people, although i didn't do it, recommend using some type of cocking stuff (name?) on the corners to make sure the seal is perfect.

as long as the valve cover comes off without ripping the gasket, i would say its fine

i just replaced mine a few days ago, used that silicone gasket sealer stuff and reused the old gasket

^^ same. then again, cheap valve cover gaskets are ftw if you want peace of mind!

Replace it, then u know how old it is. Use high temp silicone caulk around the cams. Better safe than sorry

it is re useable as long as it is not torn. but like they mentioned earlier you need to use honda bond or some ultra grey silicon from auto zone. around the end of the cams.
