Default Noob question-

Alright I got a couple of questions. First of all, if I upgraded my valve springs, retainers and put in some aftermarket valves using stock cams. Would it mess up my car in the long run since im using aftermarket parts? My car sounds strange, almost like a ticking noise from the top of my head. I just got my valve adjustment done today and does having the aftermarket parts done listed up above, suppose to make my car tick? A mechanic mentioned something about my valve springs are bouncing to crazy b-cuz its made for high compression and i can end up having a floated valve? Not sure what he means -_-". well anyways since i got the valve adjustment, it doesn't seem like i have any low end power. It boggs and my car sounds like a subaru from 1000-about 3500. After it passed 4 the power comes back, and when v-tec comes it pulls hard. Does having a BLOX manifold with stock cams, be the reason for this weak low end power? I drive a 00 GSR, with LS crank, LS rods, headers, exhaust and a blox intake manifold. BTW I used to have some stage 1 cams on this car and decided to take it out. Any ideas and suggestions are welcome. thanks

just a quick question. what would u upgrade valvetrain and use stock camshafts? if u were gonna upgrade the valvetrain then u should've ran higher lift camshafts. thats the reason why u upgrade them in the first place so u don't run into this problem.

u wouldnt run into problems.. stiffer valvesprigs are i general better than stock ones.. u just need to adjust your valves again.. make sure your specs are .7 on intake and .8 on exhaust. sometimes the valves are adjusted wrong, causing fuked up idling

yeah my idles perfect with the car, just a little loud because of the aftermarket valvetrain. But i don't know what to say about my low end power after the valve adjustment. It goes, but not quick enough. Sounds kinda cool at low RPM. sounds almost like a subaru. But I feel mad bogg. Does it have to do with ignition timing by any chance? Or better yet, my blox IM.

ohh alright, you don't think the reason for the bog, can be from the fuel filter also? Its almost like this, when you step on the gas, its slow and when you gas it some more, it just loud than slowly picks up. it seems like something is clogged. well i guess imma put my aftermarket cams back in and doing the ignition timing and lets see what happens from there -_-". since im at it probably change my fuel filter also. thanks for the reply.

the blox im and stock cams will somewhat cause a lack of low end power but not serious bogging.

What other modifications do you have on your engine?

Check your timing before you do anything else and get another valve lash adjustment done. And make sure that the valvetrain is properly installed as well.
