It's very possible that I need to replace my '96 gsr head.
What is the best course of action I should take? What I mean is, should I just buy a '96 gsr head, or is there like only a couple hundred dollar difference between that and getting a mojor upgrade, such as an ITR head.... or would it be cheaper/ better to get a b16 head to work? I bent some valves from mis-shifting and am trying to figure out what to do....

I would stick with another gs-r head and maybe drop in some cams or the like if you wanted (and had the money).
If you're really feeling good drop the bottom and throw in some CTR pistons. If not, I'd atleast throw on a Mugen headgasket.

This involves alot more down time and alot more $$$$
Stop parroting **** you read somewher eelse.....
Anyways. You could get a head from the junkyard or on H-T somewhere -have it check out at a machine shop (will probably need decking a few thousandths) and replace hte valve seals (why not if its off the car).
The install isnt very hard, if you have a helms. Set aside the better part of a day for your first time. You'll need plyers and torque wrench for sure. New headbolts, new headgasket, new exhaust/intake manifold gasket to be on the safe side.
If you are happy with the car's current performance no need to spend big dollar. You could isntall CTR/ITR cams since the head is off as a mild upgrade.

i say you get a b16 head and put yur gs-r cams in them or you could always add some itr cams if you'd like. itd be better in the long run since it flows better. and you'd get the b16's IM which from what i hear is also better. this is the same set up the guys at c-speed used, b16 head and b18c1 block...
oh yea since you need a new headgasket anyways get a mugen one!
