i just bought a 89 LS and it is making a noise when i drive it. the noise is like a light slapping or ticking noise coming from the front end, it starts around 15 to 20 mph andthe noise gets faster as i go faster, the problem must be something in the axel or something, i disengage the clutch and the noise continues and slows down as the car slows down, seem to have no conection with the rpms so i figures the tranny and motor are fine. i was told it might be a cv joint, or maybe the tires, or it needs to be aligned. lost of suggestions and really no for sure answer, and i dont have the money to replace the entire front end to fix the problem so if anyone has an idea of what the problem might be that would be great
thx
thx
If you turn the wheel sharply and pull out, it there any clicking? Have you checked your tire tread for rocks, nails, or other debris?
You can test the CV joints for play by placing the can in gear, raising one front wheel, and rotating it back and forth.
And more critically, have you voted in this thread?
