hey guys my friends 98 integ ls automatic has a cold air intake installed and yesterday it rained really hard and some of the streets were flooded and his car died in one of those flooded streets. It wont start now what can i do to get his engine up and running again? any parts i need to replace any info will be helpful thanks b4 hand.

 

take the head off and assess the damage. the cold water may have cracked any of the hot metal parts, especially the valves.

 

he is fawked, hydrolocked his motor.

 

dog damn! thats sucks. Save yourself the hassle and just get a new motor,save up money, park your car for a while, and work on a motor on the side

 

he might be lucky but by the sounds of it not to lucky..
like mentioned before take off the head check valves pistons. make sure that all the pistons come up to top dead center..
Most likely they wont and then you can go for a rebuild if not to aweful bad.. or also said before save up new motor and then you can go manual 2

 

sounds like its hydrolocked....i agree w/ everyone. jus get a new motor and go manual.

Why don't you pump the water out of the motor and manifold first before signing it off to the junkyard?
