Need help with Radiator? Is it leaking?
Well I parked my car and as soon as I stepped in front of the hood, I smelled radiator fluids. I pop the hood open, and I see the radiator fluid all on top of the radiator. I checked the reserve and it was almost gone. I had filled it up a couple a weeks back. It was dark so I couldn't check for cracks or anything. Do I need to replace the radiator? What could be wrong with it? What should I check for? Thanks!!
Well if there is water around the top of the radiator where the plastic top meets the metal, that is where most of them leak, then replace it. I replaced mine with an original one, but some people go with others.
Generic replacments are all metal...compared to the OEM plastic/metal crap.
Not only is generic better, but cheaper
This of course is for rads

same thing happened to me a few months ago. you probably dont need a new radiator. all that needs to be fixed is the top seal, but check the radiator hoses as well while your at just in case. take it to a radiator shop and they can do it for around $100 or less. save more money by taking out the radiator yourself.
I check it this morning and I couldn't find any leaks or cracks on top of the radiator. The fluid spread as far as the head and the vavle cover. What else can it be?
How many miles on the car? Could be a blown head (don't panick) can you smell it burning? Get a pressure test on cooling system . Check the radiator cap and replace it. Next time you pull over to check it leave the motor running and see where it is coming from, give it some gas with the hood open so you can see where it is leaking. Is ther a puddle under where you park your car?
