It's common on most Honda/Acura cars for those hatch/trunk struts to wear out after about six years. They stop holding the hatch up in cold weather first, then they stop holding it up at all.

As you can see from the link above, they list for around $80 and you can get them from Delray for around $60.

A place to buy aftermarket ones for $23 was posted recently on the ITR forum. Click here.

There's also a guy in Canada who can rebuild them for you, better than new, for a lot less than new stock ones. But you have to send him your old ones and wait for him to send them back to you. Click here.

which one do u recommend? im trying to save as much as possible but getting quality as well. Also, every since they were blown, my rear seems to make a noise as if the trunk was a tad lose. Is this becuase of the blown hatch struts? Do they help hold the hatch down?

I haven't used the aftermarket ones. The ones that Frank at Strutwise rebuilds are supposedly better than new, or so I've been told by folks who bought them.

No, they don't help hold the hatch down.

My GS-R makes the same noise, kind of a jiggling/rattling noise in the latch. It does it when the hatch has been recently opened. After a while, if I don't open the hatch, it stops making that noise. It's possible yours is doing the same thing, and it's making the noise because you're opening and closing the hatch frequently. Just a thought...
