Hi

I have a 94 acura Integra, LS, 5 speed manual.

the rpm after 4k sometimes just jumps like crazy, from 4k-8k very loosely. but the car is runiing normal, just the rpm gauge acts like that

also last week, driving the 101 freeway, the car is in 5th gear, its moving and all then all sudden, it studders, like its running out of gas but gas is more than half a tank.

what do u guys think is wrong with it?

i had a problem with my ls engine before that sounds somewhat like yours. i would drive for a while with plenty of gas and then i would stop somewhere and try to start up again and go and it would start but then just die before being able to go anywhere. i replaced the distributor and wires and plugs. that helped but then it happened again and it ended up being a semi fried ecu. like Suri says you should try and give as many details as possible to make our help more...well...helpful. other wise it's all just another guess for us.

 

ok at normal driving nothing happens. but if i go faster after 4000, the rpm jumps and goes back and forth, moving loosely, but power stays the same, just the rpm. and its not the cluster, i changed it, still the same

the thing that worries me and hapen twice last week. last saturday, i wne to six flag, 40 mile drive, car runs smooth, then at nite i went back, after about 30 miles, the car like studders, hesistates, shakes, it jerks. this was driving on the freeway goin 60+ on 4th gear. so i exit and turn off the car and start again, then it was fine, few miles down the road, it hapens again...luckily made it to the restaurant and had my dinner, and luckily going home nothing hapens. that was a friday and it didnt hapen again, today was fine. but the rpm thing still hapens.

went to an acura specialist, guy said might be the timing but his unsure, he said to drop off the car and let him check it out. but i dont want to, but im low on cash right now. im gona try to go to another mechanic, hopefully can tell what the problem and for free.

I can 99% guarantee you that your problem is your ICM(ignitor). Borrow a distributor from someone and I bet that will fix your problem. If so just buy a new distributor. They are typically not much more expensive than buying just the ICM.

 

the distributor is kinda brand new, it was changed from the previous owner, my friend check, it seems fine however im about to go to another friend and have him check out...

DID YOU TRY SWAPPING OUT THE VSS ON THE TRANNY. IF NOT TYY THAT AND A DIFFERENT DISTRIBUTER. ALSO THE WIRING TO THE DIST.
