Default need help

Tonight while driving in 3th gear at 6k rpm I felt something snap or sorta give way while I was shifting form 3rd to 4th gear. I got out to check the noise I was hearing and saw that a bolt has forced itself through my vlave cover directly above my timing belt gears and timing belt. I do not have adjustable cam gears still stock. The noise is coming from inside the timing belt cover directly below my valve cover and also I smell like something is burning or rubber burnt. I have no idea until I get the valve cover off but has anyone else has this problem or know what may have happened here? I own a 98 GSR.

The car is fully drivable but the noise sounds like a tire rubbing against a wheel well or soemthing??? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

***UPDATE*** pullled off the valve cover and found a bolt wedged between my timing blet and valve cover........too close!

It looks like you had that bolt trapped against your belt for a while. Look behind the timing cover to determine where it came from. You definitely need a new timing belt.

yea man the car is in the shop but that timing belt was brand new with only 600 miles on my forged internal rebuild...had it snapped and my motor would have been shot after I paid over 5k for the rebuild....too close!
