need help
I have a 01 gsr.
i want to start scca racing (beginner level) and also use it as my daily driver.
i have been doing some research on what suspension to go with and i think i am going to go with the koni threaded coilover setup, on tirerack it goes for around 1000.00, also i am going to get type r front and rear strut bars. anyone have any better ideas? tein h&r? any personal opinons?
thanks for your help

i would skip the rear strut bar and get the type r sway bar instead. it will do wonders.
comptech said the reason they don't make a rear tower bar is because after their tests, they concluded that the dc chassis is stiff enough at that point and that a rear strut bar is unnecessary.

what about the koni setup? anyone have this?
i had koni yellows on my 99 si and loved them </TD></TR></TABLE>
I havn't heard much of them, but for 1000 smackers you can get a lot of coilovers systems that will do you really good. i hear the omni-power track setup is awsome for daily driving and for track use.
But hey thats just my 2 cents.

I just got Koni coilovers and will be installing them soon. I got a really good deal on mine because I pieced them together (spent around $400 total used). If you want to do SCCA, you may want to customize your setup a bit.
The default spring rates on the Koni 2220-1315HA (f) is 250, while the rear Koni 2220-1316HA are 150. These are a bit soft for competition, I would suggest getting a set of Koni Yellows (used for $300, new for $500), and then buying a set of Ground Control coilovers with custom spring rates (400-500 range). These would do a better job in the SCCA world, and would be a little stiff, but decent for daily driving. It's easy to find 2.5 ID Eibach ERS springs in the Autocross/Road Race for sale thread, so you could swap the spring rates as you wish. Versatility will be very important.
You could also do the same thing using the Koni coilovers, because the sleeves and perch system is similar to GCs. However, you would be able to swap in 60mm or 2.25 ID springs with varying spring rates, depending on your needs.
