Default Need cold weather tips

I'm having my GSR shipped to North Dakota where I go to school. It gets really cold most of the winter.

Anyone have an advice, or DO's and DON'TS?

THANKS

dont wash the car in 20 degree weather because the doors will freeze and you will have to climb through the hatch to get in. Dont ask me how i know

I'm just goign to give you a couple of do's and don't

DON't move to ND. it sucks.
Do.. stay where you are
Don't move here
don't live here
don't drive through here
don't do anything that has anythign to do with North Dakota

take it from a 7 year veteran.. :D

oh yea.... uhm.. wash car occasionaly.. i leave my car lowered.. have fun in the snow. even though we don't have jack for snow this year

and where at in this lovely desolate state are you planning on residing in?

DO buy some good snow tires.
DO NOT rev engine too much while cold.

I usually keep the revs under 3000 for the first 5 minutes of a cold start.

let it warm up for a while like mentioned. YOu will know when its warm the temp gauge will be up and the revs will be down below or right at 1K. I dont know for a fact but i would avoid engauging VTEC until the engine is good and warm anyway. Get a good silicone based lubricant and put it on the antenna. It WILL freeze and its possible to burn up the motor trying to get it up and down. Snow tires can be overrated. If you live in a pretty populated area its likely they will keep the roads in check but definatly if you have performance tires get a set of winter tires more orentented for bad weather. Other then that im not sure really. Lived and drove in the north for one winter so im not pro but from what i experenced our cars handle pretty well on ice. Now if you ever need to know what to do if you get your car stuck in the sand at the beach or to pass through over 1' of standing water on a dirt road with a CAI......yeah, its bad but if you have no choice you have no choice.
