need code interpreted
I took my 2001 Integra to Autozone today to pull the code for the check engine light. It showed P1457, which the clerk said had to be decoded by the dealer. What doesthis code mean?
I had that code on the '98 Accord, I 'suspect' its sorta the same.
P1457 Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Control System Leakage (EVAP Canister System)
On that car, the Helm manual has about 6 pages of procedure to check out about 6 solenoid valves, the charcoal canister, a pressure sensor, a filter, & all the tubing & wires for all that stuff. Mine turned out to be a $36 valve down by the gas tank. If you're lucky it's a torn vacuum hose. You need a DMM & a MityVac & you probably have to make up some jumper wires. And the Helm manual for your car. It has these procedures listed by the code #.
The code just tells you what system is screwing up. The code by itself doesn't say which part you have to buy...
