Pulling apart my ITR trans to use the diff in a GSR trans (because my pilot bearing siezed and wore my main shaft on my type R trans)

When I was removing the diff I noticed the faces of the diffs were broken on both sides.

My question is: Is it still safe to use and what is the purpose of those 4 tangs ?

Not sure how it happened. Hit by axle on the way in? Dont know how long it was run like that or any negative effects it may have.

I actually dont think the tangs do anything. it probably got hit by the axle on its way in. I would wait for someone with more knowledge to chime in but im sure its fine
