more compresion

i have a daily driver gsr with pct and running safe with 91 octane, so i wouldnt say anything if you would know what im trying to tell the OP, i said pr3's are good for an ls/vtec so are pct's, but it really depends on him...he wants compression but didn't say how much

-higher CR pistons (jdm ITR, P30, PR3)
-milled head
-flat faced valves
-thinner head gasket
the b16 head will lower the compression because the GSR head has a smaller combustion chamber volume

i built a lsvtec with CTR pistons and they suck. the amount of timing you have to take out is stupid..thanks bye.

you suck for not taking advantage on pct's..and not knowing the full potential.
good bye

I wouldnt go as far to say they "suck". they are a good oem pistons for a race motor, or track motor but are quite hard to run in a dily driven block, especially an LSvtec
the extra stroke length combined with a smaller combustion chamber volume that vtec heads have will put your compression up around 13:1+
the CTR psitons are also very heavy compared to the PR3, P30, JDM ITR, and the high dome can cause inaccurate fuel spray patterns with stock injectors
if you plan to have them in a daily driven motor do not put them in an LSvtec, and do alot of research before you put them into a GSR block, it can be done but you dont know what complications you may face with the wear and tear of daily driving

And the port and polish...might as well since the block will be machined worked anyway.

i thought the b16 heads had a smaller chamber, creating more compression.....everyones been doin the poor mans r - b16 head on a gsr and supposably the compression is higher than just a gsr

nope, u decrease compression with a b16 head...though it has better air flow, it lacks the amount of volume the b18c head offers, but doing a mild port polish and mill on the b16a head will bring the compression back up or higher depending on the valvetrain setup.

please dont spread mis-information
LSvtec's can be very strong motors, wether they "suck" or not is a personal opinion, in terms of reliability it is the same as building a GSR, ITR, B20, LS, etc... it will only be a reliable as it is built
lsvtecs are very compatible with boost, it is the same as any other built motor as stated above
ive seen an LSvtec turbo put down 603whp and 560ft/lbs of torque

okay you dont even know who you are talking to, ive been in the game for a long time and ctr pistons arent that great, ive used them and i know thier full potential so i would just stop while youre ahead.

dont bother arguing with him..hes never built an engine in his existence...he tried to tell me pr4 pistons raise compression in a gsr block w/ gsr head
