mechanics question...
Can someone name the symptons of what happens to your car when too much carbon builds up? I've tried everything in my '93 GS and i still get a rotten response after ive driven for a good half hour and my engine heats up. I dont believe its my tranny cuz that would act up from the moment i turn on my engine... however when im cruising around for approx. 30 mins and my engine warms up to a nice temperature... i get a stutter in my acceleration. My RPMs wont go over 3000 and they begin to spike, and my car acts like a manual car thats not getting enough gas going out of first (mind you my teggie is auto). I need help it drives me nuts. The only way i can get my car to accelerate somewhat is to let up on the gas and let the butterfly valve on my intake close a lil so that it picks up speed its freakin weird... imma bout to take apart the entire assembly and pick it apart one part at a time. I NEED HELP!!!!!
no check engine light? check that the bulb is in there too for the CEL, it's a very rare chance that it burned out or that it's been taken out before, but hey it could happen

i have gotten a check engine light before when ive tried to accelerate too quickly... so its not uncommon that its happen. Someone gave me the idea that it could be my distributor... sounds plausible, but i dont know what it is and its making me mad.. you know how hard it is to have to accelerate slowly especially getting onto a highway?! My CEL comes on if i leave my foot on the gas tryin to pick up speed, but when i do this the only response i get is an acceleration stutter accompanied by my tach spiking and then the CEL comes on.. once the CEL comes on, I shut off my car, restart and then teh CEL goes away. Maybe that gives you a better idea of what my car is doing. I need all possible ideas please
Just a thought but have you checked your fuel filter? Maybe your fuel pump?
Might be a good idea to pop a new fuel filter in before you go and "pick everything apart", to see if it has any affect. It's just a thought though.......

I would suggest changing the fuel filter and cleaning the O2 sensor and check the distributer and cap to see if the are worn and also check the spark plugs to make sure they are tight. If your still having problems check the cat. And if it is trowing a code start from there.

he said there is no smoke, read the thread..
to the creator, you really just need to run a diagnostics and that will tell you what it is, it's the simplest troubleshooting ever

Sounds like the most likely culprit. Check that out before doing anything else. Allthough your car is probably in need of a major tune up and your o2 should be replaced.

perhaps what all of you are suggesting is that im not getting an electric charge to my engine? distributer and coil/ignitor sound reasonable also... its like my RPMs wont climb.... doubt its the tranny cuz it changes gears no problem, but no matter how much i push on the gas... wont go faster.. ill check this stuff out this weekend or if not next week.. thanks for the advice... n e more possilble suggestions r alwats welcome
