map sensor code 3
Guys i'm throwing a code 3, my map sensor, and it never did it before i did my b16 swap into my 91 GS, but it is now, which is making my idle bad and my fuel super rich. Why would it be doing this now.....i've checked all my vacuum lines there all connected i dont' see any leaks, i'm gonna double check that i didn't mess with a pin at the ecu, and have it tested tomorrow, but if that all turns out ok what can i do??
You need to verify that you don't have a vacumm leak for sure. Use a little carb. cleaner/throttle body spray and CAREFULLY look for leaks while the engine is idling. Check around the intake man./head junction, throttle body, etc. Take care not to spray it on the exhaust, and use it sparingly, the stuff will catch on fire if you just start going apeshit with it everywhere!! If you find a place where the engine revs a little where you sprayed it- go find your leak there. I also use a stethescope, with the probe removed, so your just using the platic tube to pick up possible air noises/whistles and whines as you move the stethescpe around the engine compartment. If no leaks can be found, and the thing is hard coding(setting the code within a min. or less after clearing and restarting); we can start looking at MAP wires, connectors and such. One thing to ALWAYS check is connections-clean,secure, no bent pins, etc. Check the pin fit too, get a new pin that is that terminal size, and make sure those terminals are snug, each one idividually. Let me know after checking this stuff.
well you were right, it is a vacuum leak, however i have not replaced it yet, i'm gonna do that tomorrow. I see there is a hole right next to the IM on the vacuum hose coming from the fuel regulator solenoid. I'm hoping this is whats wrong if not any other tips?
