lsvtec...HELP...?
i am a new member with a 1990 da6. i have a set of gsr rods and pistons installed in an lsvtec that is being built by my mechanic. are the gsr rods suitable for the lsvtec as opposed to the ls rods reinforced with arp bolts?
Unless you have a gsr crank deck clearance is going to be a big issue. I hope you have a good mechanic that knows how to measure ****. Because if thats the case you better have a raised deck. I don't know if an extra thick head gasket will cut it. But I don't know whats going. Your mechanic should know. Is it some guy putting the motor together or is a machine shop doing it?
thanks for responding so quickly. i am lucky to have an experienced honda mechanic but i know this is only the second lsvtec that he has built. the block and head have been out to a machine shop but i dont know the specifics. i'll be sure and ask him about the crank and deck clearance.
i personally would take the GSR rods and sell them because of problems such as people not even thinking to measure clearance issued before installing something like that... you could even get away LS rods with ARP rods... search around, a bunch of people are doing it...
or eagle rods for $300 or so... and eagle rods come with ARP rod bolts...

The GSR rods are a bad idea. You will need to obtain some LS rods and some ARP rod bolts. Be sure to use GSR bearings though. I would suggest Eagle rods, however the OEM pistons would have to be modified to accept a full floating wrist pin.
